There has been considerable research and many statements of concern made, over the past two decades in particular, about the environmental and health risk effects of certain drycleaning solvents (such as Perchloroethylene or Perc).

Warning Perchloroethylene, which is a highly evaporative organochlorine and a substance that can be persistent in the environment (ground water and atmosphere), is classified by the International Association for Research on Cancer as a Class 2A probable human Carcinogen (cancer causing).

These concerns prompted Blue-N-Green Drycleaners to commence operations in September 1998 with leading European methods of garment drycleaning based on eco friendlier biodegradable components.

Two drycleaners in Auckland use cleaning processes based on the use of biodegradable components.
Blue-N-Green Drycleaners are one of those two.
(There are over 50 drycleaning processing plants in Auckland).
